Going off-road always sounds like fun, but it is when things head south or when there is an issue that everything turns to what was packed. What is put in the vehicle before the trip could end up saving your life. We take a look at 3 things that should be brought every time you hit the dirt.
1. Recovery Strap
We won’t get into the details on how to use it, but knowing that if you get stuck with a group or if you can find a passing vehicle you will most likely be able to get out. The strap can be hooked to many parts of the vehicle and can be used to get out of a sticky situation.
2. First Aid Kit
Accidents happen and being prepared will take care of those. Accidents happen more without the vehicle, but with the people inside. Walking off and getting a scrape or cut can happen anywhere. Being able to take care of it and clean it will make recovery and returning to the trail much quicker.
3. Spare Tire
This one may sound simple and a no-brainer, but not having a spare tire can make for a bad day. If a tire is cut on the rocks or comes off the bead, having a spare tire will at least get you home. Fun may be over for the day, but you will be able to sleep in your own bed tonight.
These may just be the basics and some people may argue other items should be brought, but this is a good place to start. What do you bring when hitting the dirt? Tell us in the comments below!
